Kickball does “Wear it Purple Day” with Leandlease

One of our founders, David Parsons, joined a dynamic panel discussion with The Community Hub led by Dale Connor and special guests including Hannah Conda.
While some LGBTQIA+ people are well supported in their families and traditional communities after they come out – that isn’t universally the case. David shared his experiences in communities and environments that don’t signal safety for queers people to be themselves. Tolerance and acceptance don’t always signal inclusion. David spoke how his work history and history with other sports leagues led him to create Emerald City Kickball as a safe community space for people to express and discover themselves authentically. Through kickball, we’ve seen many newly out LGBTQIA+ individuals build their own communities and support networks via their teams each season even during the pandemic.
